About this scholarship
Four-year scholarship of up to thirty-two thousand dollars, paid up to eight thousand dollars per fall and spring semester, for first-year students who demonstrate commitment to diversity and community involvement beyond their own community. Eligible applicants have a 3.0 or higher GPA at admission, are Pell-eligible, are not enrolled in conflicting special programs such as Seita Scholars or Detroit Promise, and show leadership or service in schools or civic organizations. The process includes a Scholarship Universe application, essay, and interview. Recipients enroll in the MLK Jr. Student Scholars Academy and must participate actively, maintain full-time status, earn a 2.5 GPA, and complete twenty-four new WMU credits each year.
