About this scholarship
Medical students who are U.S. citizens and residents of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania for at least 12 months before medical school enrollment may apply for the Lycoming County Medical Society Scholarship.
Two $4,400 awards are offered annually. Applicants must be enrolled full time in an accredited U.S. allopathic or osteopathic medical school. Prior-year recipients are ineligible.
Applications are accepted from July through September 30 through the Pennsylvania Medical Society Foundation.

- Two reference letters from non-family members
- Medical-school letter verifying full-time medical-student enrollment
- Essay explaining why the applicant chose to become a physician and expected contributions to the health profession (maximum 750 words)
- A completed application via the Scholarship Application Portal
- Two reference letters from persons other than family members, documenting the applicant's integrity, interpersonal skills, and potential as a future physician
- A letter on school letterhead from the applicant's medical school verifying full-time enrollment as a medical student
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Lycoming County, PA for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student
- Applicant must be enrolled full time in a fully accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school in the U.S.
- A personal interview is not required but may be requested
