About this scholarship

Single mothers who are Utah residents with physical custody of dependent children, a high school diploma or GED, completed FAFSA, and demonstrated financial need may apply for Live Your Dream Foundation scholarships. You may attend college online in another state while remaining a Utah resident.

Awards range from $500 to $3,000 and cover tuition, fees, and books at any accredited college, university, technical school, or bootcamp, including graduate programs.

Complete the online application through the foundation's portal. No minimum GPA, major, or citizenship requirement applies.

  • Award-impact essay of 750 words or less
  • At least one non-relative reference form
  • Detailed household financial-information section
  • At least one reference form (from someone not related by blood or marriage); a second reference form is optional but strengthens the application. Reference LETTERS are not accepted.
  • Financial information section: detailed budget of household income, expenses, financial aid, educational expenses, savings, and credit/loan use (used to assess financial need).
  • Applicant must certify that all essays were written in their own words WITHOUT the use of artificial intelligence (explicit anti-AI eligibility requirement and certification).
  • Application must be completed in Adobe Reader and emailed (with reference form attached) to the local Soroptimist club or SIA Headquarters by the November 15 deadline.
  • Open-ended short answer (no stated word limit): if you have dependents other than your children, explain why they rely on you for financial support.
  • Applicant must certify that essays were written without artificial intelligence.
  • An optional second reference form may strengthen the application.
  • Explain support of dependents other than children if applicable.
