About this scholarship
Full-time or part-time doctoral students at the dissertation stage in any discipline may apply to use the holdings of the Archives of York University in aid of their research. Domestic and international students are eligible, and the recipient need not be a York University student. Research must be undertaken in the York University Archives within 12 months of the award. The fellowship must be acknowledged in the dissertation and in related publications, with copies sent to the University Archivist, and a report filed with the University Archivist within two months of completing the dissertation.
One award of up to $2,000 is available. The value and number of awards depend on endowment distribution. The award is non-renewable.
Apply through the Financial Aid, Awards and Scholarships (FAAS) system with a brief research proposal describing materials to be used in the York Archives and a detailed budget, plus an up-to-date CV and transcript for the most recent two years of study. Applications are accepted throughout the year when funds are available.
Named for Kent MacLean Haworth (1946-2003), an internationally respected champion of archives who gathered Canadian material for the York University Archives.
