About this scholarship
The Class of 1983 established the John Havlis Memorial Law Scholarship to honor classmate John Havlis after his death in 1992. The endowment provides awards to third-year University of North Dakota School of Law students with a keen interest in practicing legal services, human rights, poverty law, or other public service fields that serve the greater good. Scholastic achievement and financial need are considered but are not overriding criteria. A School of Law committee selects recipients each year. Students apply through UND Scholarship Central as part of the law school scholarship databank application process.
