John Carroll Scholarships honor Georgetown's founder, Father John Carroll, who began planning an academy for Catholic citizens of the young American Republic after being appointed superior of the American Mission in 1784. These need-based awards are part of Georgetown's donor-funded undergraduate scholarship portfolio and help meet demonstrated financial need alongside loans and work-study. Students are considered when they submit standard Georgetown financial aid applications including the FAFSA and CSS Profile. There is no separate application. Enlisted Marines, Sailors, and their dependents assigned to MCRD San Diego or the Western Recruiting Region who are high school seniors or graduates enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program may apply through the MCRD Museum Foundation. Up to two scholarships of up to $2,000 each are awarded annually based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, community service, and future potential. Complete the application with proof of enrollment and documentation of academic and community involvement. U.S. citizens and permanent residents applying to Ohio State's Columbus campus may compete for the Stamps Eminence Scholarship, a merit-based award with no financial need consideration. Apply to OSU by the November 1 early action deadline, indicate Honors or Scholars interest, then submit the separate Stamps application by November 9. The scholarship covers full tuition for up to eight semesters plus an enrichment grant of up to $5,000 after the first year.
