About this scholarship
The James Gordon Bennett Prize, funded by a bequest of James Gordon Bennett, is offered for the best essay in English prose on a subject of American governmental, domestic, or foreign policy of contemporaneous interest. The competition is open to Harvard College seniors and to eligible special students in their third or fourth year who have taken courses in political science and English literature. Competitors propose a subject for committee approval. All eligible senior honors theses are considered without special application. No prize is awarded unless the essay is judged worthy of publication. Recent awards have been six hundred dollars.
