About this scholarship
The J.L. Weigand Jr. Legal Education Trust Scholarship supports long-term Kansas residents attending Washburn University School of Law who demonstrate scholastic excellence and commitment to practicing law in Kansas. Applicants must have been legal residents of Kansas for at least ten cumulative years before college graduation, have taken the LSAT or GRE, and be applying to or enrolled at Washburn Law, KU Law, or Notre Dame Law School. Upperclassmen must rank in the top 10% of their class. Awards vary based on existing financial aid and may include non-financial mentorship benefits. Applications open December 1 and all materials must be received by February 15 annually, including personal statement, resume, photograph, two letters of recommendation, and official transcripts.
