About this scholarship
The Hugh M. Mills Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund, established in 1981 by the Gainesville College Foundation, honors Dr. Hugh M. Mills Jr., founding president of Gainesville Junior College, now UNG's Gainesville Campus. Almost 2,400 students have received scholarships through more than 200 individual donations by Mills and his wife Evelyn Heath Mills over four decades. The fund reflects Dr. Mills' conviction that education should be accessible to all who seek it, including students with financial need. Recipients are selected through the UNG Foundation scholarship process and ScholarshipUniverse during the annual application cycle. Award amounts vary based on endowment payout and applicant qualifications. Students apply through the general UNG scholarship application with priority deadline February 14.
