About this scholarship
The Hoefer Prize for Writing in the Major at Stanford University recognizes outstanding undergraduate writing produced in approved Writing in the Major courses across the humanities, social sciences, natural and mathematical sciences, and engineering. Writing in the Major course instructors may nominate one student paper per course, including co-authored work, by submitting the essay and a nominating letter to the Writing in the Major program. Prize winners receive a certificate, an inscribed book, and a monetary award at a spring ceremony. Spring quarter nominations are considered for the following academic year.
