About this scholarship
The Hesse Scholarship at Valparaiso University provides a renewable $2,000 annual award to 12 incoming freshman engineering students each year, funded by former College of Engineering Dean Herman Hesse and his wife Helen. Invited students receive application materials in December and are selected based on merit. Hesse Scholars may provide five hours of tutoring per week at the Hesse Learning Resource Center in exchange for an additional $2,000 annual stipend. The scholarship renews for up to four years when academic and service criteria are met.
