About this scholarship

Spouses and dependent children of Georgia public safety officers or public school employees who were permanently disabled or killed in the line of duty may qualify. School employees must have been victims of on-campus violence. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or eligible permanent residents and Georgia legal residents for at least 12 months.

Grants cover the cost of attendance minus other financial aid, up to $18,000 per award year, with a lifetime maximum of $72,000. Recipients must enroll full-time at an eligible Georgia college, university, or technical college.

Apply each academic year through GAfutures. Awards are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis as funds are available.

  • Documentation of the accident or event resulting in the officer's or employee's death or disability for first-time applicants
  • Be the spouse or child of a Georgia Public Safety Officer (or public school employee) who was permanently disabled or killed in the line of duty / due to an act of violence
  • Complete Part A of the application form on GAfutures
  • Submit to your college's financial aid office for enrollment verification and Part B completion
  • Upload documentation of the accident/event resulting in death or disability via GAfutures Document Upload (first-time applicants only)
  • Reapply annually
  • Attend an eligible Georgia college, university, or technical college
  • Apply each academic year through GAfutures.
  • College financial aid office must verify enrollment and complete Part B.
  • Awards are first-come, first-served as funds are available.
