About this scholarship
The Freedom Scholarship offers privately funded undergraduate support exclusively for U.S. military veterans attending Hillsdale College, replacing use of GI Bill benefits on campus so veterans may retain those benefits for graduate study or family members. First preference goes to honorably served veterans of any branch and can cover tuition, room, board, fees, and books when funding is available; in some cases awards may also extend to eligible children of Post-9/11 GI Bill-eligible veterans. Veterans apply through the standard undergraduate admission process, reference military service in the file, submit a Commanding Officer Endorsement and last two performance evaluations in place of one academic recommendation, complete a required interview, and provide DD-214 after admission for final aid determination. Hillsdale does not accept federal student aid, so this scholarship is the primary veteran tuition pathway.
