About this scholarship

The Engineering Freshman Award is the College of Engineering's most widely awarded scholarship for incoming undergraduates directly admitted to engineering at UW-Madison. Students may receive a one- or two-year award with amounts varying from $1,000 to $5,000 based on admission materials; no separate application is required beyond the UW-Madison admissions application. FAFSA submission is strongly encouraged but not required. Notifications go to admitted students by early March for Early Action applicants or mid-April for Regular Decision applicants via email and the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub.
