About this scholarship

The Coolidge Debating Prizes, funded from the 1899 gift of T. Jefferson Coolidge, Class of 1850, award equal prizes to the two best speakers in the trial debates for the Harvard-Yale-Princeton Intercollegiate Debates. When a debate with Yale or Princeton is omitted in a given year, the prize income is redirected to awards that support debating at the College as determined by the Corporation. Recent winners have each received three thousand dollars. For further information about tryout schedules and eligibility, contact the Dean of Students Office or the Harvard College Prize Office.
