About this scholarship
Service-based scholarship program established in 1998 for South Carolina residents committed to community leadership. Close Scholars receive financial assistance from the Springs Close Foundation toward four years at Winthrop University while volunteering one hundred twelve hours per semester at pre-approved service sites. Scholars attend monthly in-service activities, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, and follow all university policies. Applications are available through the Close Scholars Program website and awards are made annually in May.
