About this scholarship
The Charles J. McClain Presidential Scholarship is Fairmont State University's premier competitive academic award for incoming freshmen. It covers tuition and fees, room and board for on-campus students, and up to five hundred dollars per semester for the Fairmont State Online Bookstore. To compete, students must submit a separate Presidential application and essay, complete their admissions file with transcript and test scores, file the FAFSA by March 1, hold a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.5, score ACT 26 or SAT 1180 or higher, and participate in on-campus interviews. The scholarship renews up to eight semesters with GPA and credit-hour requirements.
