About this scholarship
The Carolina Covenant is a UNC financial aid program that enables qualifying low-income undergraduates to attend and graduate debt-free by meeting full demonstrated need through grants, scholarships, and work-study without loans. Eligibility is assessed automatically when students apply for aid with the FAFSA and CSS Profile by university deadlines; there is no separate Covenant application. Incoming first-year and transfer students pursuing a first bachelor's degree full time may qualify when family income is at or below two hundred percent of federal poverty guidelines and other need criteria are met. Named Covenant Scholars retain the designation throughout their undergraduate career when they file the FAFSA on time each year.
