About this scholarship
Graduate students enrolled in an accredited master's, doctoral, or law program in the U.S. or Canada may apply to conduct original research on community associations and common-interest communities.
Stipends range from $3,000 to up to $5,000 over one year. Applicants must remain enrolled through the research period.
Submit a research proposal through the Foundation for Community Association Research application. Students from any discipline may apply if their proposed project relates to community associations.
The fellowship supports research that informs homeowners, board members, managers, and others who live and work in community associations.

- Research proposal
- Writing sample of approximately 5 to 20 pages
- Three non-related references, including an academic advisor or full-time faculty supervisor
- Signed certification
- Official transcripts if selected as a finalist
- Writing Sample (Section 4): attach a brief writing sample, approximately 5 to 20 separate pages
- Three non-related references (Section 3), one of whom must be the applicant's general academic advisor or another full-time faculty member who will supervise the project
- Must be enrolled in an accredited master's, doctoral, or law program in the US or Canada
- Studies must relate to community associations / common-interest communities
- Topic must have approval of academic advisor/supervising faculty member
- Finalists may be asked to provide official transcripts
- Signed certification; application deadline May 1
- Applicants from any academic discipline may apply.
- The proposed project must further understanding of residential community associations and benefit the Foundation.
