About this scholarship
The Boothe Prize at Stanford University recognizes outstanding expository and argumentative writing by undergraduates in first-year writing courses including PWR 1, COLLEGE, ESF, ITALIC, and SLE. One first-place and one honorable mention are selected from each academic quarter and honored at an annual May ceremony. First-place winners receive a certificate, a book, and $350; honorable mention winners receive a certificate, a book, and $200. Winning essays are published in Boothe Prize Essays: Excellence in Writing at Stanford. Instructors nominate outstanding student essays; there is no separate student application.
