Black Women in STEM Scholarship

Underrepresented high school seniors and college students attending full time at Brighthouse Scholar Connections partner schools in the Charlotte, North Carolina area may apply. Awards provide up to $10,000 per year, renewable for up to four years with reapplication, for a maximum of $40,000. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and maintain at least a 2.7 GPA. Submit a personal statement, writing sample, resume, academic transcripts, and a letter of recommendation. High school seniors also submit a college acceptance letter. Brighthouse Scholar Connections, Inc. supports first-generation students, historically underrepresented groups, and students from schools with low graduation rates or funding.

U.S. citizens or permanent residents pursuing a PhD in applied physical sciences, biological sciences, mathematics, or engineering may apply for the Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship. Applicants must be college seniors, first-year graduate students, or in a gap year preparing for graduate study and must morally commit to making their skills available to the United States in times of national emergency. Fellowships provide a cost-of-education allowance and personal stipend, with total funding packages valued at up to $250,000 over five years. Fellows may pursue research at participating U.S. universities and join a lifelong network of Hertz Fellows. Submit an online application with academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and personal essays. Finalists participate in multiple interview rounds.

Female undergraduate juniors or seniors and graduate students enrolled full-time or part-time at accredited U.S. colleges may apply for WIIT merit scholarships supporting the study of international trade. Winners receive $3,000 paid to their institution, plus one year of WIIT membership and mentorship. Scholarships are awarded twice per year. Submit a 5 to 10 page double-spaced essay on a relevant international trade topic, an information sheet, and a transcript by November 1 for the fall cycle (April 1 for the spring cycle).

Full-time U.S. citizen undergraduates at an Orange County, California college or university with at least a 3.0 GPA who are involved in international business, international trade, or study-abroad programs may apply. Award amounts vary. Recipients must be able to accept the award at the appointed WITOC event. Email the application to outreach@witoc.org by May 1 or November 1. WITOC scholarships help students advance studies in international trade and business or fund study-abroad program costs.

U.S. citizens attending an accredited U.S. college or university who served in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, or Reserves, or who are the spouse, widow, child, or stepchild of a U.S. veteran, may apply for one $2,000 Boyk Law Veteran Scholarship. Submit a resume, transcript, and 750-1,000 word essay addressing at least two of the sponsor's prompts. The winner is announced on Veterans Day, and the check is sent to the student's school.

Current graduate students may apply for 12-week marine-science research fellowships at the Smithsonian Marine Station at Fort Pierce, Florida, working with Smithsonian research staff. Each fellowship includes a $9,000 stipend. Application deadlines are May 1 and November 1 annually, with notifications on June 1 and December 1.
