About this scholarship
The Appalachian Scholars Program provides merit- and need-based scholarship support to first-year Ohio University Athens campus students who reside in Ohio's Appalachian counties and demonstrate academic achievement and financial need. Candidates apply for admission by November 15, complete the FAFSA by the February 15 first-priority date, hold at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, and complete the OHIO Honors and Scholars supplemental application when invited, followed by an interview. Scholars receive a four-year renewable award and participate in cohort mentoring, a first-year special issues course, and at least sixteen community service hours annually.
