Scholarships at College of Wooster

The Scottish Arts Scholarship recognizes first-year students with music performance skills demonstrated at an audition, particularly in Scottish traditional music. Awards range from two thousand to eight thousand dollars per year, and lesson fees for half-hour weekly private lessons on the audition instrument are reduced to twenty-five dollars per semester. Recipients are not required to major or minor in music. Students may apply for only one performing-arts scholarship area at Wooster. Transfer students are not eligible for this award.

The Herrick L. Johnston Scholarship in Chemistry awards two domestic students entering the Class of 2030 five thousand dollars applied to their first academic year at Wooster. Faculty in the Chemistry department review applications and give highest consideration to students planning to major in Chemistry or Biochemistry and Molecular Biology whose career plans align with those fields. Previous recipients have been offered mentored undergraduate research or lab assistant positions as early as their first year. Applicants submit the admission application and a separate Johnston Scholarship form by February 2.

The Covenant Scholarship supports incoming first-year students who are members of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and have demonstrated academic achievement plus involvement in their community and church. Applicants must apply Early Decision I or Early Action, complete the general admission application, and submit the separate Covenant Scholarship application form. Awards range from one thousand to three thousand dollars per year and can stack with a Dean's Scholar award when applicable. Early Decision applicants must meet the November 1 admission deadline; other applicants must submit the scholarship form by December 15.

The Refer a Scot Award provides a five-hundred-dollar credit toward textbooks purchased at the Robert C. Mayer Bookstore during the Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 semesters for referred first-year or transfer students who enroll at Wooster. A referral form completed by a Wooster alum, faculty member, staff member, student, or parent must be submitted by November 1, 2026, before the referred student is admitted and enrolls for Fall 2027. The award supports textbook costs rather than tuition and is available to both first-year and transfer entrants who meet referral and enrollment requirements.
