Scholarships at University of Wisconsin-Madison

Male-identifying incoming freshmen and sophomores at UW-Madison may apply for the Balanced Man Scholarship from Sigma Phi Epsilon's Wisconsin Beta Chapter. Candidates should demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to health and well-being (Sound Mind, Sound Body). Fraternity membership is not required. One recipient receives $5,000. Complete the brief online application on the chapter website by the deadline.

The Richard Ralph Winter Phoenix Rising Humanitarian Scholarship rewards UW-Madison College of Letters & Science undergraduates with a strong record of community and humanitarian service. Awards of up to $5,000 are paid in the following academic year and are funded by Charles Manthey Winter and the Richard Ralph Winter Rising Phoenix Humanitarian Scholarship endowment. Second- or third-year L&S students may apply through the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub after a nomination period; finalists submit recommendations and complete an individual interview. The program encourages excellence and commitment to humanitarian ideals on campus and in the community.

The Tommy Thompson Leadership Scholarship awards $2,300 to one UW-Madison undergraduate per academic year through the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership. The scholarship recognizes undergraduates who have demonstrated public leadership reflecting the legacy of Governor Tommy G. Thompson and who will continue leading in the future. Applicants must be full-time, degree-seeking UW System undergraduates in good standing and submit an essay referencing Tommy Thompson. UW-Madison forwards finalists to the statewide center for final selection. Apply through the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub during the fall application window.

The Renk Scholarship provides $2,000 per year in tuition assistance to UW-Madison undergraduates studying agricultural business through the Agricultural & Applied Economics or Agricultural Business Management majors, or the CALS Certificate in Business Management for Agricultural & Life Sciences. Applicants must complete at least 24 post-secondary credits by the end of spring semester and hold a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Apply through the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub by February 1 with a personal statement and one letter of recommendation. Scholars also receive networking, internship, and career support through the Renk Agribusiness Institute.

The King-Morgridge Scholars Program is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship for enterprising international undergraduates at UW-Madison committed to poverty alleviation in their home countries. Scholars from eligible regions in Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia receive tuition and fees, on-campus room and board, health insurance, airfare, and a stipend for eight semesters. Six scholarships are awarded each year. Candidates must apply as first-year Early Action students and submit both the UW-Madison undergraduate application and a separate King-Morgridge application through the Wisconsin Scholarship Hub by November 15.
