Scholarships at Westminster University

The Aspirations in Computing Scholarship at Westminster University awards $3,000 per year to first-year female students who have been recognized by the national or regional NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Program, including winners, honorable mentions, rising stars, and certificate recipients from any region. Recipients must apply and be admitted to Westminster, then email Dr. Helen Hu to notify the department of their intent to apply. To renew, students must complete at least one computer science course by the end of the first year and remain in good academic standing. The scholarship stacks with other merit and need-based aid but cannot exceed total tuition and fees.

The Honors Transfer Scholarship provides $2,500 per year to transfer students entering Westminster University's Honors College who demonstrate academic excellence, campus leadership, and alignment with Honors learning approaches. Like the first-year Honors Academic Excellence Scholarship, applicants submit a one-to-three-page essay on Toni Morrison's statement about freedom and empowering others. Applying for the scholarship does not affect Honors admission outcomes. The application deadline is June 1 each year. Transfer Honors students may combine this award with other Westminster aid subject to total aid limits.

The Westminster Commitment is Westminster University's promise to cover remaining tuition costs for four years for academically strong Utah students with financial need. After federal, state, and other Westminster aid is applied, the Commitment pays any remaining tuition for eligible students who maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress. To qualify, students must apply for admission by the February 2 Regular Decision deadline, be admitted, submit the FAFSA with Westminster school code 003681 by the March 1 priority deadline, have family income below $75,000 with limited assets, hold at least a 3.3 cumulative high school GPA, graduate from a Utah high school, and enroll full time as a first-time undergraduate. Food and housing are not covered.
