Scholarships at West Virginia University

Named engineering scholarship administered through the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University. On behalf of the Appalachian Underground Corrosion Short Course, AMPP EMERG awards two scholarships of $3,000 each to WVU students annually. The scholarship supports students interested in corrosion control, cathodic protection, and related engineering fields. Current Statler College students apply through the single annual Statler College Scholarship Application, which opens by October and is due December 31 each year with a FAFSA on file by January 1.

WVU's most prestigious need-aware merit scholarship for West Virginia residents admitted as first-time freshmen by January 20, 2026. Five students are selected annually from the pool of twenty Bucklew Scholarship finalists. Applicants must have a minimum 3.80 high school GPA and ACT 30 or SAT 1360, graduate from a West Virginia high school, and be chosen by the scholarship selection committee. The award covers cost of attendance as determined by financial aid for up to four years plus a one-time $4,500 stipend for study abroad or academic enhancement. Students receiving the Promise Scholarship receive the Foundation Scholarship less the Promise amount.

Named endowed scholarship for undergraduate students at West Virginia University who are West Virginia residents with U.S. citizenship and are intending to major or are majoring in chemical engineering in the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources. Recipients must demonstrate academic promise and financial need. A student who receives the award one year is eligible for reconsideration in subsequent years. Current students apply through the annual Statler College Scholarship Application due December 31 with a FAFSA on file by January 1. Recipients are selected by Statler College officials in consultation with the WVU Office of Student Financial Aid.

Named scholarship for regularly enrolled undergraduate civil engineering students at West Virginia University who have completed at least one year of full-time study with a GPA of 3.0 or better and graduated from a West Virginia high school. Recipients must demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is renewable for all remaining years of undergraduate study provided the student remains in the Civil Engineering program and maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA. Current students apply through the Statler College annual scholarship application due December 31. Awards are made by the Office of Student Financial Aid in consultation with Statler College officials.
