Scholarships at Wayne State University

Wayne State engineering scholarship program partnering with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to support students pursuing careers in semiconductors, EVs, mobility, and aerospace. Undergraduate and graduate Wayne State students in relevant engineering or computer science programs apply online with a resume. Scholarships up to $10,000 are awarded when students complete qualifying internships ($5,000 each) or accept full-time hire offers ($10,000 total) with partner companies in Michigan. Freshmen may participate in programming but are not eligible for scholarship funds until sophomore year. Preferred GPA is 3.0 and awards are first come, first served.

Housing scholarship for incoming transfer students at Wayne State University who transfer from any Michigan community college and live in WSU on-campus housing beginning fall 2026. The award covers up to $5,000 per academic year ($2,500 fall and $2,500 winter) for up to two consecutive years, for a maximum total of $10,000. Apply and be admitted by July 1, file the FAFSA, enroll full time, submit a housing application, and complete the ScholarshipUniverse application. Priority goes to applicants demonstrating financial need. Recipients must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and full-time enrollment.

Named endowed scholarship in the Wayne State University College of Nursing honoring longtime academic services officer Dr. Felicia Grace. The $5,000 award supports Second Degree (CD2) nursing students who embody Dr. Grace's passion for the university and community service. In its inaugural year, ten students received the scholarship. The College of Nursing Office of Student Affairs manages nursing scholarship programs; eligible CD2 students should contact the college for current application procedures and deadlines, which for most nursing programs fall on March 1 annually.

Tuition pathway scholarship for eligible Detroit-resident students graduating from a Detroit high school who enroll as first-year undergraduates at Wayne State University. Funding covers up to the full cost of in-state tuition and standard fees minus federal, state, and other university merit or need-based aid already received. The award is renewable for up to four consecutive years. Students must apply through the Detroit Regional Chamber, file the annual FAFSA, maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, full-time enrollment, pass at least 12 credits each fall and winter semester, and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.

Annual scholarship from the Wayne State University College of Nursing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, funded by the Michigan Board of Nursing. Awards support nursing students committed to addressing health disparities and practicing in underserved communities after graduation. Applicants must be permanent Michigan residents enrolled in the College of Nursing on a path to graduation. The application requires choosing a health disparity of focus and submitting a written essay discussing the disparity and recommendations for improving care in that community. Award amounts vary each year based on available funding.
