Scholarships at Valparaiso University

Incoming Valparaiso University students planning a church vocation may qualify for the Allen Scholarship of $17,500. Eligible paths include theological studies, pre-seminary preparation, church music, youth and family ministry, missions, Christian education, deaconess or deacon programs, or Lutheran or parochial school teaching. The award renews with a 3.0 GPA. Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and satisfactory academic progress. The Guild Cookbook Scholarship at Valparaiso University provides $5,000 per year to entering freshmen who are the child or grandchild of a Valparaiso University Guild member. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic accomplishment, and extracurricular involvement, and complete the Guild Scholarship Application Form by December 1. Recipients are notified with their financial aid award letter and must maintain a 2.75 GPA for renewal. The scholarship is not renewable if the relative's Guild membership lapses during the award period.

The Caterpillar (CAT) Scholarship at Valparaiso University is a renewable $4,000 annual award for freshman engineering students selected through a competitive merit-based process that may include an interview with the College of Engineering Recruiting Committee. Invited students apply after nomination based on academic merit. CAT Scholars must complete 20 hours of documented volunteer service each year to renew the scholarship for up to four years. The award recognizes engineering students who combine academic strength with a commitment to community service at Valpo.

The American Mathematical Competition (AMC) Scholarship at Valparaiso University provides a $1,000 non-renewable award to undergraduates who have declared a mathematics major and scored above 100 on the AMC12 exam during their junior year of high school. Valparaiso University selects two recipients per year for the Indiana Latino Institute Scholarship, a full-tuition award covering remaining tuition and general fees not met by federal, state, and university grants. Applicants must be active Indiana Latino Institute members with a minimum 3.25 GPA, file the FAFSA, enroll full-time, and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress for renewal.
