Scholarships at University of Texas System

The Hawkins Scholarship at UTEP awards up to $10,000 each to two juniors of outstanding intellect and character who demonstrate leadership and commitment to service in any major. Recipients may use funds for tuition, fees, room, board, books, study abroad, research, or other educational expenses preparing for graduate school. Applicants must be UTEP juniors on track to complete an undergraduate degree by July 2028, intend to attend graduate school in fall 2028, be at least seventeen and not yet twenty-three on October 1, 2026, and hold a minimum 3.7 cumulative GPA. The selection process includes semifinalist interviews modeled after nationally competitive graduate fellowships. Applications open in August and are due by October 13, 2026.

The Thomas B. and Kathryn Morrow Engineering Endowed Scholarship at UT San Antonio awards $2,000 to undergraduate students pursuing an engineering degree at the university. Applicants must be enrolled in at least six credit hours and have a minimum 2.50 cumulative high school GPA or a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA in completed college coursework. Students complete the College of Engineering General Scholarship Application Form and may optionally submit a one-page letter describing accomplishments and career goals. Awards are made competitively from the college's endowed scholarship pool based on application strength and available funding each cycle.

The Houston Endowment Honors Program at UTEP supports ten Houston Endowment Scholars each year with $2,000 per student per year for up to four years. One student is selected from each of the seven colleges, with three additional recipients chosen competitively. Scholars may reapply each cycle with a written report on how prior funds were spent. The program is administered through the University Honors Program and supports honors students pursuing professional development and leadership experiences aligned with their career pathways.
