Scholarships at University of St. Thomas

The Alternative Pathways to Excellence (APEX) Engineering Scholarship Program at the University of St. Thomas supports low-income engineering students, especially transfer students on nontraditional paths, with NSF funding. Each award provides up to $10,000 annually, renewable one additional year, plus a one-time $500 kick-off stipend, faculty mentoring, tutoring, and career counseling. Applicants need a 3.0 college GPA, St. Thomas admission, Pell or Minnesota State Grant eligibility, U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status, and enough pre-engineering coursework to finish a BS in two years or fewer. Apply online by April 30, 2026 for equal priority consideration.

The Murray and Ruth Harpole Scholarships at the University of St. Thomas award up to $5,000 to current undergraduates funded by gifts from Murray and Ruth Harpole, founders of Pentair Corporation. Applicants must be declared entrepreneurship majors who will be juniors or seniors after the current academic year, maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, and show involvement in the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, which is important for consideration. Seniors graduating in May of the current year are ineligible. Applications are due in Spring 2027 through the Schulze School of Entrepreneurship.

The Willis Drake Young Entrepreneurship Scholarship recognizes prospective first-year University of St. Thomas students who demonstrate outstanding entrepreneurial potential and plan to major in business with a concentration in entrepreneurship. Recipients receive $2,000 for their first year of study. Applicants must have applied to St. Thomas and submit the scholarship application through the admissions portal by February 2027. This award complements other Opus College entrepreneurship scholarships and is designed for students beginning their undergraduate business studies with a clear entrepreneurship focus.

Incoming first-year students pursuing a business degree at the University of St. Thomas may apply for the GHR Fellows Scholarship Program, a competitive cohort experience for ten students. Fellows receive a four-year full-tuition scholarship, with possible room and board grants based on demonstrated financial need. The program also includes a fully funded J-Term study abroad, career coaching, service-learning opportunities, and access to business and community leaders. Applicants apply to St. Thomas and submit the GHR Fellows application in the admissions portal by January 8. Finalists attend Scholarship Day in February. A minimum 3.7 GPA and demonstrated leadership are expected.

The Ann and Pat Ryan Scholars Program at the University of St. Thomas was established to improve workforce diversity in nursing by supporting students from backgrounds underrepresented in the field. Scholarships are available to students pursuing a BSN or MSN in the Susan S. Morrison School of Nursing. After admission, nursing students are invited to apply for this and other school-specific awards. The program seeks to expand access and representation within St. Thomas nursing programs while helping recipients complete their professional nursing education.

The Dease Scholarship Program at the University of St. Thomas awards full tuition to ten incoming first-year students who combine high financial need with academic excellence, leadership, and community commitment. Scholars participate in a four-year cohort with civic engagement, leadership development, and the Emerging Scholars living-learning community. Applicants must be admitted to St. Thomas, complete the Dease application in the admissions portal, and file a FAFSA or Minnesota Dream Act by the recommended February 1 priority date. The scholarship covers tuition only, not room and board, and is not open to international students.

The Schulze Innovation Scholarship Program at the University of St. Thomas is a four-year full-tuition scholarship and academic cohort for up to ten incoming first-year students each year. Scholars major in entrepreneurship, receive mentoring, hands-on learning, internships, and startup support, and may access seed capital after graduation. Applicants must be accepted to St. Thomas with a minimum 3.5 high school GPA and demonstrate entrepreneurial creativity through their application essay. Students apply via the admissions portal by January 8, 2027, and finalists attend Scholarship Day in February before recipients are notified in March.

The Accounting Department at the University of St. Thomas awards merit-based scholarships to current undergraduates declared as accounting majors who reach at least sophomore standing by the start of the next fall semester. Funding comes from corporations, public accounting firms, professional associations, and private donors, including memorial awards honoring faculty members Frank J. Coglitore and Patrick McGowan. Students apply by March 2027 and are notified at the Accounting Club Banquet.
