Scholarships at St. Bonaventure University

The BONAS-Teach Robert Noyce Scholarship supports rising juniors and seniors at St. Bonaventure University who are STEM-Adolescence Education majors in biology, chemistry, math, or physics, or Computer Science Education majors, and who commit to teaching in high-need school districts. Scholars can receive up to $14,000 per year to cover unmet educational expenses during the junior and senior years, along with professional development, research stipends, mentorship, and summer camp leadership opportunities. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and no major-course grades below C, and must complete the FAFSA before applying. Recipients must teach two years in a high-need district for each scholarship year received or repay the award as a loan under NSF rules.

The Bonnie Scholarship is part of St. Bonaventure University's High School Junior Scholarship Program, which recognizes high school juniors whose character reflects the university's Franciscan values. Qualities considered include academic excellence, community, integrity, wisdom, leadership, social responsibility, compassion, and appreciation for diversity. High school counselors nominate up to seven students per school for the Bonnie and Reilly awards. Nominations must be received by May 25 annually. The program is nomination-based rather than a direct student application, and selected students are honored for values aligned with St. Bonaventure's mission before they apply for undergraduate admission.

The Reilly Scholarship is one of two awards in St. Bonaventure University's annual High School Junior Scholarship Program, alongside the Bonnie Scholarship. The program honors high school juniors who embody the university's Franciscan values of community, service, academic excellence, integrity, wisdom, leadership, social responsibility, compassion, and appreciation for diversity. School counselors submit nominations by May 25 each year and may nominate up to seven students total for the program. This is a counselor-nomination award for juniors rather than a separate application completed by students. The Mark Hellinger Award is the Jandoli School of Communication's highest student honor, instituted in 1960 to assist a graduating senior in journalism or mass communication who combines strong academics, field experience, and financial need. Eligible candidates are graduating seniors in the journalism program or recent graduates from the prior two commencements. A faculty advisory committee evaluates academic record, applied journalism skills, and financial position before the award committee confirms the winner. The award includes scholarship support that has grown beyond its original $500 level and recognizes promise for outstanding service in journalism. It is presented at the annual Hellinger Award Luncheon alongside related communication-school honors.
