Scholarships at Rust College

The Academic Dean Scholarship at Rust College provides up to $2,500 each year to entering students who meet at least two criteria including a 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA, an ACT score of 17 or above or 1230 SAT, or ranking in the top ten percent of their graduating class. Applicants submit a 500-word essay on attending college and Rust College specifically with academic and life goals. Accepted recipients must maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA for renewal. The award supports full-time undergraduates at the Holly Springs HBCU.

The Vernon-Child Memorial Fund at Rust College was established in 1999 to promote quality education for deserving students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who demonstrate academic achievement. Recipients sign a commitment statement to give back to Rust College the monetary value received while attending. The maximum award is $2,000 per year from the fund. Full-time undergraduates are selected by the college and awards are presented at Honors and Awards Day in April at the Holly Springs campus.

The Elizabeth Naas Scholarship Fund at Rust College provides $1,200 scholarships from endowment interest to needy students selected on the basis of financial need, scholarship, character, and leadership. Awards are announced at Honors and Awards Day in April each year on the Holly Springs campus. Full-time undergraduates who demonstrate both academic merit and documented need may be considered through Rust College's endowed scholarship selection process. Recipients are chosen by the college from eligible continuing students.

The James and Lydia McMillan Scholarship at Rust College provides $1,000 scholarships to four needy students selected on the basis of financial need, scholarship, and personality. This endowed fund is presented at Honors and Awards Day each April at the Holly Springs campus. Recipients must be enrolled full-time undergraduates demonstrating academic merit alongside documented need. The Rust-Wood Scholarship is given to one Rust College student annually, selected on the basis of scholarship, personality, character, and leadership in religious and social activities. The scholarship amount depends on funds received from the Mississippi Conference United Methodist Women each year. Rust College makes the selection and presents the award during Honors and Awards Day in April. Full-time undergraduates demonstrating strong campus and community leadership may be considered through the college's scholarship selection process.

The Arvern Moore Head Start Scholarship Award was established by the Institute of Community Services, Inc., to support a Rust College student of good character with financial need majoring in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics with a 3.00 GPA or above. The student must be an active member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and a resident of Mississippi. The award is presented at Honors and Awards Day in April. Full-time undergraduates in the natural sciences who meet all criteria may be selected by Rust College.
