Scholarships at University of Rochester

The Bausch + Lomb Honorary Science Award, presented annually since 1933, honors outstanding high school juniors who demonstrate excellence in science and mathematics. Participating high schools may nominate one qualified junior each year through the University of Rochester High School Awards Program. Nominees receive an application fee waiver and, if admitted to Rochester's College of Arts, Sciences and Engineering, may be selected to receive a merit scholarship ranging from $10,000 to $35,000 per year. The award recognizes rigor in STEM coursework and positive contributions to school and community, but nomination does not guarantee admission or a scholarship.

The George Eastman Young Leaders Award honors high school juniors with strong leadership experience at school and in the community, high grades in challenging courses, and extensive extracurricular involvement. Each participating high school may nominate one qualified junior annually through the University of Rochester High School Awards Program. Nominees receive an application fee waiver and, if admitted to the College, may be chosen for a linked merit scholarship ranging from $10,000 to $35,000 per year. The award celebrates leadership and academic achievement but does not guarantee Rochester admission or scholarship receipt.

The Undergrad Continuing Student Scholarship is a competitive University of Rochester award for returning undergraduates who will enroll the next academic year, excluding Take 5 and E5 participants. Unlike incoming merit programs, this scholarship requires a separate Financial Aid Office application typically due in the spring along with a faculty or staff recommendation letter. Roughly thirty students receive awards up to $2,500 for the upcoming year, and past winners may reapply. It supplements aid for continuing River Campus undergraduates who demonstrate strong academic standing and campus engagement.

Eastman Community Music School (ECMS) students enrolled in lessons, classes, and ensembles may apply for need-based and merit financial assistance, with preference for diploma-program students. Award amounts vary. Aid is based on a combination of financial need (federal tax return page 1) and musical merit. Submit the Financial Assistance & Scholarship application and a teacher recommendation by August 1 for the coming school year, or by December 1 for spring enrollment.

The Jeremy L. Glick Memorial Scholarship honors Rochester Greek life leadership in memory of Jeremy Glick, a 1993 graduate and Alpha Delta Phi president who died aboard United Flight 93 in 2001. The Financial Aid Office awards the scholarship annually to continuing undergraduates who meet Undergrad Continuing Student Scholarship criteria, demonstrate financial need, show active University involvement, and are active members of an accredited University of Rochester fraternity or sorority. Applicants submit a separate spring application through the Financial Aid Office rather than receiving automatic consideration at admission.
