Scholarships at Northern Arizona University

NSF-funded scholarship for academically talented NAU students with unmet financial need pursuing bachelor's degrees in civil, electrical, environmental, or mechanical engineering or computer science. During the 2026-2027 academic year, twelve first-year and four transfer students may receive up to ten thousand dollars annually for four and two years respectively. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, nationals, or refugees with Pell Grant eligibility, full-time enrollment, and a 3.0 GPA. The program includes mentoring, research, internship, and professional development activities beyond funding.

Tuition scholarship for Arizona residents who participated in the Arizona Academic Decathlon at the regional or state level for two or more years. The award provides two thousand dollars per academic year for fall and spring and may continue up to four years with renewal. The Arizona Academic Decathlon Association selects recipients; priority is given to students applying by August 1 for fall and December 1 for spring. Recipients must maintain a 2.0 cumulative NAU GPA. The award can combine with outside tuition scholarships but not with other NAU tuition scholarships except the IB scholarship.

Honors stipend for incoming NAU students designated as National Merit Semi-Finalists or above, or as College Board National Recognition Scholars. Recipients receive automatic admission to the Honors College plus a one-thousand-dollar annual stipend for the first two years while participating in and remaining in Honors good standing. Selection requires sending an electronic copy of the College Board National Recognition Program certificate to National.Scholars@nau.edu. This stipend is not stackable with other Honors Merit Awards. Recipients must maintain Honors College participation requirements to renew.

Endowed scholarship established by N. Douglas Butler, an NAU accounting alumnus, to support undergraduates pursuing a bachelor of science in accountancy at the W. A. Franke College of Business. Recipients must be full-time accounting sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a 3.0 or higher GPA and remaining cost of attendance not covered by other aid excluding loans. Awards are made through ScholarshipUniverse during the January 15 through April 15 application window. The Franke College scholarship committee matches applicants to endowed funds based on individual scholarship criteria.
