Scholarships at University of Kentucky

The Robert B. and Helen P. Jewell Foundation Scholarship provides eight thousand five hundred dollars per year to full-time incoming freshmen at the University of Kentucky majoring in mathematics, biology, or English who demonstrate financial need. Applicants must have a minimum 2.75 GPA and apply through Scholarship Universe by the College of Arts and Sciences March 1 deadline. The Pigman College of Engineering also directs Kentucky high school graduates with financial need to this fund alongside the Lighthouse Beacon Foundation Scholarship. Recipients must file a FAFSA so need can be verified. The award is renewable when academic progress and need criteria continue to be met.

The Susan M. Belmore Memorial Scholarship supports full-time undergraduate students with a declared major in the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences. Incoming freshmen, current students, transfer students, and international students may apply through Scholarship Universe using linkblue credentials. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Awards range from five hundred to two thousand dollars and are renewable when recipients continue to meet scholarship terms. The college application deadline is March 1 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern each year, and selections are announced mid to late May via official UK email. Questions may be directed to the Arts and Sciences Scholarship Committee.

The Ribble Undergraduate Research Award supports up to four biology majors each semester who conduct faculty-mentored research for two consecutive semesters in the UK Department of Biology. Scholars receive one thousand dollars per semester for two semesters, totaling two thousand dollars, disbursed to the student after any outstanding university charges. Eligible students must be Kentucky residents, biology majors at junior or senior status, hold a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and enroll in six credit hours of BIO 395, 397, or qualifying BIO 398 research with a department faculty mentor. Applications are emailed to biology@uky.edu by the fall or spring deadline, and scholars must publicly present their research.

The Richard Van Florence Committee of 101 Scholarship is an endowed award supported by UK athletic boosters honoring longtime Committee of 101 president Van Florence. Each year the University of Kentucky awards multiple one-thousand-dollar scholarships to outstanding students who have earned at least a 2.5 GPA and demonstrated commitment to excellence and community service. Incoming freshmen apply for UK admission by December 1, activate their linkblue account after admission, and submit the Scholarship Universe application by April 1. Current UK students may also apply with linkblue credentials. Preference is given to students who have not previously received this scholarship. Awards are subject to funding availability.

The Felix E. Martin, Jr. Scholarship supports academically outstanding students from Muhlenberg County, with Hopkins County considered alternatively, who attend the University of Kentucky. High school and transfer applicants need a GPA of 3.0 or higher and at least a 24 composite ACT score from a single test date; superscores are not accepted. Students apply for UK admission by December 1, then complete the Scholarship Universe application by January 31 after activating linkblue credentials. The scholarship is renewable up to four years with satisfactory progress toward a bachelor's degree, though prior college work counts toward the term limit for transfers and current UK students.
