Scholarships at Jacksonville State University

The Phi Theta Kappa Enhancement Scholarship adds one thousand dollars annually to qualifying transfer awards for Jax State students who are Phi Theta Kappa members with a Jax State-calculated transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher and at least 45 transferable credit hours, for a two-year total of two thousand dollars. Applicants log into MyJaxState, complete the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship Application in Scholarship Manager, and attach proof of membership by July 1. Awards are limited and granted based on application date and fund availability. To renew, recipients must remain full time, maintain a 3.0 institutional GPA, and earn 24 credit hours per year.

Jacksonville State University students who are direct maternal or paternal descendants of a former JSU football player coached by Charley Pell, documented through Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, may apply for the Charley Pell Endowed Scholarship through JaxApp. Current JSU athletes are ineligible. Award amounts vary. Apply by February 1. The fund was established by former players and friends in honor of Mr. Pell, a former JSU head football coach.

Theatre and Film Scholarships at Jacksonville State University support talented Theatre and Film majors through annual awards determined by audition and portfolio review. Applications for 2026-2027 open through JaxApp with a February 1 deadline; incoming students audition or interview on campus February 16, 2026, with online options available by request. Performance applicants prepare contrasting monologues and materials; production applicants submit portfolios; film applicants submit scripts, films, or reels. Recipients must reapply each year. Theatre awardees contribute to productions, maintain GPAs of 2.5 overall and 3.0 in THR courses, and stay enrolled in theatre courses. Film awardees complete assigned departmental duties and maintain GPAs of 2.5 overall and 3.0 in FLM courses.
