Scholarships at Howard University

The Lilly Bison Scholarship at Howard University provides up to ten thousand dollars per year toward tuition and fees for up to twelve students annually across the School of Business, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, and selected College of Engineering and Architecture majors. Eligible majors in CEA include architecture, electrical engineering, computer engineering, chemical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Awards go to students with a vision for improving their local communities and the larger world. Scholarships are available to first-year students, rising sophomores, rising juniors, or transfer students and may renew for up to four academic years when criteria are met.

The Norman E. McAdory Scholarship Fund provides up to ten awards of ten thousand dollars each to junior or senior undergraduates in the Howard University College of Engineering and Architecture who are U.S. citizens in good standing with demonstrated financial need. Applicants need a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA and must file the FAFSA with Student Financial Services. Preference is given to students who identify as African American, followed by students from other underrepresented minority groups. Candidates submit the CEA scholarship application during the published award cycle. The fund supports above-average engineering students pursuing degrees within CEA.

The Pepco Scholarship provides up to four awards of five thousand dollars each to active College of Engineering and Architecture undergraduates at Howard University enrolled in at least twelve credit hours. The scholarship is open to both incoming and continuing CEA students who demonstrate financial need or merit, maintain good university standing, hold a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, and file the FAFSA with Student Financial Services. Applicants submit the CEA scholarship application during the published award cycle. Pepco established the fund to support students pursuing engineering and related technical majors within Howard's CEA.

The Google Computer Science Scholarship supports Howard University undergraduates with a declared computer science major in the College of Engineering and Architecture who demonstrate financial need and maintain good academic standing. Applicants submit the CEA scholarship application, enroll in at least twelve credit hours, and file the FAFSA or ISFAA with Student Financial Services. Awards provide up to two thousand five hundred dollars toward educational expenses. The scholarship is part of CEA's portfolio of corporate and alumni-funded awards for continuing and incoming students pursuing computing degrees at Howard.

The Karsh STEM Scholars Program is Howard University's premier STEM scholarship for high-achieving incoming freshmen who commit to earning a PhD or combined MD-PhD in a STEM field. Applicants complete the Common Application for Howard admission plus a separate KSSP Submittable application due January 31, 2026, with FAFSA, high school transcript, STEM teacher recommendation, and short-answer responses. Eligible students need a 3.30+ GPA with B grades in STEM courses, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, documented community service, and majors in approved disciplines such as biology, engineering, computer science, chemistry, mathematics, or physics. Selected scholars receive tuition coverage of seventy-five or one hundred percent based on family income plus room, board, and books.

The Cathy Hughes School of Communications offers multiple named scholarships to current Howard University undergraduates who have completed at least one semester in the school. Scholarships are not automatically renewed, so students must reapply each year through the CHSOC application portal. All awards apply to the fall semester only. Applications for the current cycle close May 1, 2026.
