Scholarships at University of Hawai'i System

The Mānoa Excellence Scholarship supports high-achieving first-year students from outside Hawaiʻi who enroll at UH Mānoa directly after high school. For non-resident U.S. citizens not eligible for WUE, the award is equivalent to resident tuition, approximately $22,032 per year for four years. WUE-eligible students receive approximately $5,652 per year. Applicants need a minimum 3.7 high school GPA plus supplemental New Warrior materials. Apply for admission by January 5 and submit supplemental essay and activities list by January 15. Maintain a 3.0 GPA and full-time enrollment to renew.

The Regents Scholarship supports incoming first-year undergraduates at UH Mānoa, UH Hilo, and UH West Oʻahu who are Hawaiʻi residents with outstanding academic records. Recipients receive full undergraduate tuition for four years, a $5,600 annual stipend ($2,800 per semester), and a one-time $2,500 travel grant. UH Mānoa applicants must also apply to and be accepted into the Honors Program and complete supplemental New Warrior materials including a community-impact essay and activities list. Apply for admission by January 5 and submit supplemental materials by January 15 for fall enrollment.

The UH Hilo Chancellor's Scholarship is a prestigious four-year tuition award for Hawaiʻi high school graduates or homeschooled students entering UH Hilo as first-time freshmen. Applicants must be bona fide Hawaiʻi residents accepted to UH Hilo with a minimum 3.5 GPA and demonstrated leadership or community service. Submit admission application, official transcript, Chancellor's Scholarship application, and personal statement by March 1. Scholars must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA, enroll full-time, earn 30 credits per year, and participate in cohort leadership activities throughout their undergraduate career.

The UH West Oʻahu Chancellor's Scholarship is a four-year full tuition waiver for high-achieving Hawaiʻi high school graduates entering UH West Oʻahu for the 2026–2027 academic year. Recipients must have a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA and evidence of academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Scholars serve as UH West Oʻahu Student Ambassadors. Apply through the University of Hawaiʻi System Common Scholarship Application by March 2. This prestigious campus award supports students committed to representing and serving the UH West Oʻahu community throughout their undergraduate degree.

The 442nd Veterans Endowed Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and supports UH System students who complete the optional essay on the UH System Common Scholarship Application. Applicants describe the role of the 442nd in World War II and their legacy in a 900-word essay. The scholarship is available across UH campuses through the shared common application, which matches students to eligible donor funds. Submit the application, required general essays, and optional specialty essays by March 2. Letters of recommendation from recommenders are due March 9.

The Evans Scholarship for Culinary Arts supports Hawaiʻi Community College students pursuing culinary careers. Applicants complete a 500-word essay or short video on the UH System Common Scholarship Application about their commitment to the culinary industry, career goals, and plans for achieving those goals. The scholarship is one of several campus-specific optional essays on the shared UH System application. Submit the common application by March 2 with required general essays. Students list Hawaiʻi CC as their home campus to receive campus-specific matching. FAFSA completion by March 1 is encouraged when need is a selection factor.

The Fujii and Rodriguez Endowed Scholarship Fund at UH Mānoa Shidler College of Business provides annual scholarships for students majoring in accounting at the School of Accountancy. Established by Ernst and Young partners Terri Fujii and Lawrence Rodriguez with matching funds from Jay Shidler, the $300,000 endowment supports Hawaiʻi accounting students building careers in the local workforce. Students apply through the UH System Common Scholarship Application and UH Mānoa STAR scholarship portal. Selection follows donor criteria administered by the college and UH Foundation. Award amounts vary by fund earnings each year.
