Scholarships at Hawaii Pacific University

HPU Esports Scholarships support incoming undergraduate students who join HPU's collegiate esports teams and compete in titles such as Collegiate Valorant, Rocket League, and League of Legends. Qualified gamers can receive between one thousand and six thousand dollars per year based on skill and remaining available funds. Applicants must submit both the undergraduate admission application and the separate esports scholarship application; responses are typically sent within three weeks. Scholarships require participation in HPU's esports arena program, the first collegiate esports facility in Hawaiʻi, and are awarded to a select number of new students each cycle.

The Kama'aina Summer Grant helps local Hawaiʻi residents take undergraduate summer courses at Hawaii Pacific University as special-status non-degree seeking students. Applicants or their parents must be Hawaiʻi residents with proof of a valid Hawaiʻi state ID or driver's license. Award amounts for summer 2026 are one thousand five hundred dollars for six to eight credits, two thousand four hundred dollars for nine to eleven credits, and three thousand six hundred dollars for twelve or more credits. The Holomua Commitment FAFSA Grant is a guaranteed three thousand dollar grant for eligible Hawaiʻi high school graduates who file the FAFSA by January 15 as part of HPU's Holomua Commitment and Guaranteed Scholarship and Admission Program. It supplements the program's minimum fifteen thousand dollar tuition scholarship and any additional merit or need-based aid for which a student qualifies. Applicants must be graduating from a Hawaiʻi high school with at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA, submit a complete HPU admission application by January 15, and complete the FAFSA using HPU's federal school code 007279 by the same date to receive priority financial aid awarding.

HPU Debate Scholarships are awarded to a select number of incoming undergraduate students who demonstrate superior speech and debate ability and a record of past achievements indicating strong potential for intercollegiate success. Recipients participate in Debate Society events including Mixed Plate Debates, the Pan Pacific Championship, the Island Debate invitational, and scrimmages with local teams, and are expected to write research briefs and advocate for debate on campus. Applicants submit the Debate Scholarship Application alongside the undergraduate admission application, including coach contact information and a tournament record. Priority consideration goes to early applicants; award amounts vary by available funding.
