Scholarships at Gettysburg College

The Gilder Lehrman Institute History Scholarship at Gettysburg College recognizes high-achieving incoming students with a strong interest in studying history through coursework, independent research, or personal experience. Named for the college's partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the award supports students who view history as a tool for understanding and shaping the present. Recipients join a vibrant intellectual community with access to the Civil War Institute, Eisenhower Institute, and faculty in public history. Applicants submit the Common Application plus a supplemental GLI scholarship essay by their admission deadline. A limited number of awards of fifty thousand dollars per year are granted for four years of full-time enrollment.

The Parker B. Wagnild Scholarship is a Sunderman Conservatory talent award for students pursuing a music major or music minor, and occasionally for highly talented non-majors at Gettysburg College. Recipients are selected through a conservatory faculty audition and must submit a complete financial aid application as prospective students. The scholarship provides forty-four thousand dollars per year and renews while the student demonstrates satisfactory advancement in their music degree program or minor, progress in private study, continued participation in faculty-assigned conservatory ensembles, and a satisfactory GPA. Applicants complete the Common Application, Music Profile Form, theory assessment, and an in-person or video audition with faculty interview following Sunderman Conservatory audition guidelines.

Doctoral candidates who have completed coursework and are preparing dissertations at Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Tufts (Fletcher), Chicago, Kansas, Texas-Austin, Virginia, Vanderbilt, or Washington University in St. Louis may be nominated for this $10,000 Clifford Roberts Graduate Fellowship. Each university may nominate up to two candidates. The fellowship supports research on government, public policy, and America's role in the world.

The Patrick Grant at Gettysburg College's Sunderman Conservatory is a need-based award for students with musical talent and demonstrated financial need who plan to major or minor in music. Prospective recipients must submit a complete financial aid application in addition to completing the conservatory audition process with faculty. Like other Sunderman awards, selection is based on an audition with conservatory faculty members assessing performance and musicianship. The grant renews according to conservatory scholarship policies tied to satisfactory progress in private study and the music program. Applicants should complete the Common Application, Music Profile Form, music theory assessment, and an in-person or recorded audition following published Sunderman audition requirements.
