Scholarships at Earlham College

The Rariden Scholarship is awarded annually to one Indiana student entering Earlham who is interested in visual and performing arts, including art, music, or theatre. Preference is given to Wayne County, Indiana residents, though Indiana students from outside the county are also considered. The scholarship provides five thousand dollars per year for four years, totaling twenty thousand dollars. Applicants apply through the art, music, or theatre scholarship process by submitting the relevant departmental application and audition or portfolio materials by February 1 after applying to Earlham by Early Action or Early Decision.

The Elizabeth Thompson Jewish Studies Scholarship supports Earlham students engaging in Jewish Studies and meaningful Jewish life on campus, including holiday gatherings, Shabbat, visiting speakers, and collaborative programs. Open to students of all backgrounds, it awards one thousand five hundred dollars per year, renewable for up to four years. Applicants must apply to Earlham by Early Action or Early Decision, enroll in the fall entering class, intend to pursue a Jewish Studies minor and/or participate actively in campus Jewish life, and submit the scholarship application by February 1. Recipients are selected by Jewish Studies faculty in consultation with Financial Aid and finalists interview on Scholarship Day.

The Carleton B. Edwards Chemistry Scholarships are four-year awards for outstanding incoming Earlham students who plan to major in chemistry or biochemistry. Recipients are chosen by chemistry faculty based on high school academic achievement, interest in chemistry, a completed online application, and a personal essay describing why they plan to major in the field. Applicants must apply to Earlham by Early Action or Early Decision and enroll in the fall entering class. The award is at minimum one thousand dollars per year, renewable for up to four years while maintaining a 2.0 GPA and reasonable progress toward a chemistry or biochemistry degree.
