Scholarships at Coppin State University

The CareFirst College of Health Professions Scholarship for BSN majors awards $10,000 to Coppin State University nursing students in the College of Health Professions. Currently enrolled Coppin students apply through the Private Donor Award scholarship portal after completing the general application and FAFSA unless exempt from federal aid eligibility. Applicants must submit a 250–300 word essay discussing their motivation for pursuing nursing, experiences that shaped their desire to become a nurse, and how they plan to use their nursing education to make a community impact. The essay should include specific examples highlighting passion for healthcare, commitment to patient care, and challenges overcome. The application deadline is June 30, 2026.

The Honors Upper-Division Scholarship awards $3,000 per year, paid as $1,500 each semester, to continuing full-time Coppin State University students in the Honors Program who demonstrate exceptional ability and interest in graduate study. Eligible students must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA, completed English Composition I and II or equivalents, and between 45 and 60 earned credits. The scholarship is renewable each semester when recipients earn at least a 3.2 GPA and maintain full-time status. Interested students download and submit the Upper-Division Scholarship application to the Honors Program. External scholarship funding or other aid that creates an overaward may reduce the scholarship amount per Financial Aid packaging rules.

The India Continental Award is a one-time scholarship for full-time Coppin State University undergraduates in their sophomore or junior year who demonstrate academic excellence and appreciation of all cultures. Awards range from $100 to $500 and preference is given to students on a student visa, though permanent residents and U.S. citizens may also apply. Applicants must maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA, remain full-time during the award academic year, and must not have received this award previously. Application materials include the application form, current transcript, and supporting documents emailed to the committee chair. Documentation is due by the second week of spring semester each academic year for full consideration.

The Eagle Honors Program Scholarship supports first-semester, first-year Coppin State University students admitted to the Honors Program with in-state tuition and fees for scholarship recipients. To qualify, students must have a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA, significant leadership roles in school or community, and completion of four advanced courses in any combination of AP, Honors, IB, GT, AVID, or dual enrollment. The Honors Program Director reviews referral forms from Admissions, conducts interviews, and selects recipients. Students must be admitted to Coppin before the Honors application can be processed. This scholarship rewards academic excellence and leadership potential among incoming Eagles entering the Honors community.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority HBCU Initiative Endowed Scholarship is a Private Donor Award at Coppin State University available to currently enrolled degree-seeking students who demonstrate verifiable financial need. Applicants must complete the general Private Donor Award application through the Coppin AcademicWorks portal using their student email, submit a FAFSA unless ineligible for federal aid, and maintain at least a 2.2 cumulative GPA. The scholarship system opens April 3, 2026, and applications are due May 31, 2026. Once the general application is submitted, eligible students are automatically matched to this and other qualifying endowed funds. Selected recipients must log in to accept awards and complete any post-acceptance requirements before funds are posted through Financial Aid packaging.
