Scholarships at Baylor University

Combined merit- and need-based scholarship for incoming Baylor undergraduates entering the School of Engineering and Computer Science. Awards range from $4,500 to $12,500 per academic year after review of academic merit and FAFSA and CSS Profile need data submitted by February 1. Recipients must maintain a 3.25 semester and cumulative GPA, full-time enrollment, good standing in the Dean's Scholars Program, and continued pursuit of an ECS major to renew for up to four years.

Named scholarship for highly motivated, academically talented Baylor undergraduates in Medical Humanities supported by the DeBakey Medical Foundation. DeBakey Scholars receive a $10,000 award and participate in small-group faculty interaction, local health care professional engagement, campus speaker events, and Medical Humanities programming. Scholars are expected to uphold personal excellence and act as custodians of the DeBakey legacy in the humanities and medicine.

Need-based $5,000 scholarship for dedicated Baylor undergraduates honoring the legacy of Dr. Vivienne Malone-Mayes and other Black Baylor pioneers. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours, have completed at least 36 Baylor hours, hold a 2.8 overall GPA, and have a FAFSA on file for the award year. The application requires a 300-to-500-word essay, unofficial transcript, and a 30-minute on-campus interview. Awarded once during undergraduate enrollment; recipients participate in Baylor Black Alumni Alliance Achievement Awards.

Scholarship and support program for first-generation college students entering Baylor as first-time freshmen or transfer students. Selected participants receive a $3,800 annual scholarship plus an academic coach, peer mentoring, workshops, and leadership opportunities through a pre-move-in Success Academy and ongoing programming. Applicants must be admitted, submit FAFSA, TAFSA, or CSS Profile, and be available for early move-in and semester events. About 50 students are selected per cohort; applications close March 5 for fall entry.

Study abroad scholarship for first-generation Baylor undergraduates participating in the First Abroad Fellows program. Fellows receive a $3,000 award held in reserve and applied to the student account for the term abroad, assistance finding a degree-aligned program among nearly 100 Baylor study abroad options, passport resources, and semester advising. Participants must remain in good academic standing, generally meeting the 2.5 GPA threshold common to Baylor study abroad programs, and meet regularly with study abroad advisors.

Merit- and need-based scholarship for current Baylor undergraduates raised by Student Foundation members from alumni and friends. The award is $3,000 ($1,500 per fall and spring semester) for one academic year; December graduates may receive $1,500 for fall only. Applications are submitted through Scholarship Universe and evaluated blindly by committee. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA, attend a scholarship reception, complete donor thank-you notes, a brief impact questionnaire, and a philanthropic activity.

Small scholarship for current undergraduate nursing students in good standing at the Louise Herrington School of Nursing at Baylor. One award of $200 is made each fiscal year for conference attendance with a poster or podium presentation, research, evidence-based practice, policy change, professional development, or international work through Baylor global partners. Requests must include an abstract, benefit summary, resume or CV, and budget justification submitted by December 1.

Need-based Business Fellows scholarship for current Baylor undergraduates who are U.S. citizens with strong academic records at Baylor, active church involvement, paid work or internships while in college, a positive attitude, and demonstrated financial need. Awards are made year to year and are not automatically renewable, though students may receive the scholarship more than once. Interested current Fellows apply by May 1 through the Fellows scholarship application after submitting the FAFSA and CSS Profile.

Pool of named endowed scholarships awarded solely by the Moody School of Education to Baylor undergraduates majoring in education. Merit, need-based, and combination awards are available to incoming freshmen through graduating seniors with a minimum 2.75 GPA. Need-based and combination awards require a current FAFSA and CSS Profile; some merit-only funds do not. Students apply through Scholarship Universe after spring classes begin, and awards may change with merit, need, or market conditions.
