Scholarships at Augustana College

Audition-based music scholarships for first-year and transfer Augustana College students of any major, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 per year and renewable for four years. Recipients must take applied lessons on their audition instrument for at least one credit per week and participate in a major ensemble such as Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, or Choir. Students register for an on-campus or virtual audition by March 15. Current Augustana students are not eligible to audition for new music scholarships.

Theatre scholarship of up to $4,000 per year for Augustana College students who major in theatre arts. Named for alumna and fine arts supporter Judith Katz, the award requires an online application and audition consisting of a performance or technical portfolio presentation plus faculty interview. Students who apply but are not selected for the Katz award are automatically considered for a general Theatre Arts Scholarship. Applications are due by March 15; current Augustana students may not audition for new scholarships.

Merit and need-based scholarship for full-time students enrolling at Augustana College who will major in environmental geoscience. Established by 1962 graduates John E. and Mary Thorson Lucken, the award provides up to $8,000 total ($2,000 per year). Applicants submit high school transcripts, a 2- to 4-page reflective essay on geoscience interests and goals, and a recommendation emailed to the department by the March 2 deadline. Renewal requires declaring the major, progressing through required courses, participating in department activities, and maintaining a 3.0 GPA in major courses.

Departmental scholarship for high school seniors and transfer students who visit Augustana College on Academic Scholarship Day and win their academic department's competition. Winners receive $4,000 total, paid as $1,000 per year for four years, on top of other merit aid. Events are held on campus with department open houses and scholarship competitions; students may compete only once and November competitors cannot compete again in February.

Scholarship for students applying for fall admission to Augustana College who complete a four-part video and quiz series about the college's mission, applied learning, career preparation, and liberal arts education. Applicants who finish all four sessions receive $1,000 per year for up to four years ($4,000 total). For fall 2026 entrants the completion deadline is December 15, 2025, with notification by January 7, 2026; future cycles follow the schedule published on Augustana's Mission and Meaning page.

Endowed accounting scholarship established by the partners and employees of Arthur Andersen & Company and the Arthur Andersen & Company Foundation. Augustana's endowed scholarship page states it is awarded to accounting majors recommended by the department chair. Students are automatically considered when they apply for financial assistance and meet program criteria. The fund is part of Augustana's large endowed portfolio, and individual award amounts are not published online. Endowed scholarships may fund a portion of academic or other institutional aid already offered to the student.
