Methodist Scholarships

The United Methodist Scholarship supports full-time Rust College students who are U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens, active members of the United Methodist Church, and Christian in character with sound health and promise of future usefulness. Applicants must have a grade average of B or better during the semester immediately preceding application. These church-funded scholarships renew when recipients maintain requirements and funds remain available. Students apply through Rust College's financial aid office as registered full-time undergraduates at the Holly Springs campus.

The Free Methodist Scholarship awards a minimum of twenty-two thousand dollars per year to traditional undergraduate students who are children of Free Methodist pastors or who attend a Free Methodist church or youth group. Greenville University, affiliated with the Free Methodist Church, offers this award to support students from its denominational community. The scholarship is part of Greenville's automatic merit aid structure and renews for up to four years. Applicants must apply and gain acceptance to Greenville as traditional undergraduates. Students verify Free Methodist affiliation during the admission and financial aid process.

United Methodist Dollars for Scholars awards administered through the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation provide three thousand to four thousand dollars for one year to full-time degree-seeking Southwestern University students. Applicants must be active, full members of the United Methodist Church for at least one year prior to application and hold at least a two point five GPA. Applications must be submitted directly to UMHEF by March first rather than through Southwestern alone. Southwestern’s financial aid office lists this program alongside other Methodist scholarship opportunities available to enrolled undergraduates who meet denominational membership requirements.

American University offers a fifty percent tuition remission scholarship to dependent children of active ordained clergy serving full time in Pan-Methodist churches including United Methodist, African Methodist Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal Zion, Christian Methodist Episcopal, and Union American Methodist Episcopal congregations. The program is competitive, limited to sixteen recipients across the undergraduate student body with roughly four seats per incoming class, and requires a separate application through AU's AcademicWorks portal after admission. Priority is given to early applicants with high financial need. Recipients must enroll full time, maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, and register for no fewer than twelve credits each semester.
