Learning Disability Scholarships

Arkansas residents with documented learning disabilities who will attend a university, two-year community college, or vocational or technical program may apply for the Ralph G. Norman Scholarship from the Learning Disabilities Association of Arkansas. Three awards of $2,500 are given annually. Ideal candidates self-advocate for their needs, pursue realistic career goals, stay active in school and community life, and work toward personal goals despite learning challenges. Submit current documentation of an identified learning disability with your application. Eligible disabilities include dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and related reading, writing, and math impairments.

High school seniors or current college students in the United States with a documented disability, enrolled or planning full- or part-time undergraduate study at a US two- or four-year college or technical school. One $1,000 award is given each year. Email proof of enrollment, disability documentation, and a minimum 500-word essay on personal trials and triumphs related to your disability to scholarships@healthproductsforyou.com by August 15 annually. Supporting letters are optional. Selection is based on the essay and materials. Health Products For You sponsors the award to support students whose disabilities have not stopped their ambitions.

Renewable award up to $1,000 per year for one graduating high school senior with a verified language-related learning difference such as dyslexia, written-expression disorder, or central auditory processing disorder who plans a career in the visual arts and will enroll at an accredited U.S. two- or four-year college. Mail the complete paper application postmarked by March 31 with counselor verification letter, art portfolio, essay, transcript, and proof of college acceptance. ADD or ADHD alone does not qualify.

The Nancy Spivey Scholarship at Southwestern University supports sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have a diagnosed learning disability and demonstrate financial need as determined by the financial aid office. This endowed fund was established by Nancy and Rex Spivey to help students with documented learning differences succeed in Southwestern’s rigorous academic environment. Award amounts vary depending on endowment income and applicant need. Applications are submitted through the continuing-student scholarship process with a May first deadline. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress and continue to demonstrate need in subsequent years to be considered for renewal.

The Franklin Family Undergraduate Endowed Scholarship in Educational Equity supports incoming freshman undergraduates at Penn State whose background contributes to student body diversity and who demonstrate financial need, regardless of grade-point average. Recipients must be first-generation college students and meet at least one additional criterion: documented learning disability registered with Student Disability Resources, past or current work experience, or eligible dependents. Apply through the Educational Equity central scholarship application, which covers all equity scholarships with one form and short essays submitted each year. Renewal is possible but not assured.
