Social Work and Public Administration Scholarships in Canada

Female undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Ottawa School of Social Work who have at least one dependent child, demonstrate financial need, and immigrated to Canada within the past 10 years (permanent resident or applicant, refugee or protected status, international student with a study permit, economic immigrant, or Canadian citizen for less than 10 years) may apply. The award is $3,000. Apply through Online Scholarships and Bursaries in uoZone by November 3. The Michèle Kérisit Scholarship supports immigrant women with dependent children in Social Work.

Full-time Honours with Specialization in Social Work students at the University of Ottawa School of Social Work who demonstrate community involvement and financial need may apply. The scholarship is up to $1,000. Apply via uoZone with the Financial Questionnaire, CV, and a 500-word community-involvement letter by November 3.

Undergraduate Social Work students at the University of Windsor with demonstrated financial need who meet OSOTF II citizenship and Ontario residency requirements. Two need-based bursaries of $900 each from the OSOTF II Social Work fund. Apply online through the UWinAward Profile.

Interest from this trust supports an annual award at the University of Windsor for a full-time Year 3 undergraduate Social Work student in odd-numbered years, and for a full-time graduate Social Work student in even-numbered years. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents (including those with Protected Persons status) meeting OSAP Ontario residency requirements and demonstrate financial need. For a full-time Year 3 Social Work student at the University of Windsor. Selection is based on academic standing and financial need. One bursary of $700 is awarded annually. Assigned through the online UWinAward application process. Established in 1983 in memory of Christine Hernandez, B.S.W., in recognition of her dedication to social work.

Nipissing University upper-year, full-time students with social welfare as a major who demonstrate financial need and meet Ontario residency requirements as defined by OSAP may apply. One bursary of $525 is presented annually to help keep a Nipissing education financially accessible. Apply through the Awards Month application on Web Advisor beginning October 1.

University of Victoria School of Social Work First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit undergraduate students who identify as women, trans, non-binary, or Two Spirit and meet Indigenous Citizenship Declaration requirements. Applicants must show financial need, hold maximum Canadian government student loans for the study period, register in at least 4.5 units (3.0 with a permanent disability) for 12 consecutive weeks, and (for continuing students) hold a minimum 2.0 GPA in the previous session. One or more bursaries; value varies. Apply once per session through UVic Online tools by June 1 (summer) or October 15 (winter).

Full-time University of Regina students in the Bachelor of Social Work program may apply through the Faculty of Social Work. Recipients may not hold another scholarship concurrently. One award of $300 is available.

University of Victoria School of Social Work students who have completed third year, are proceeding to fourth year, and whose financial need goes beyond usual aid sources may apply. Preference goes to students with family responsibilities whose permanent residence is outside Greater Victoria. One bursary is available; the amount varies. Apply through the UVic general bursary process (June 1 for summer session or October 15 for winter session).
