Psychology Scholarships in Canada

University of Guelph students registered in any program offered by the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences with demonstrated financial need, who meet the government-mandated terms for an OTSS award, may receive this $5,000 bursary. One award is available. Preference is given to female students registered in the Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition. Apply through University of Guelph student financial awards processes by October 7.

University of Saskatchewan College of Arts and Science students in a three- or four-year Bachelor of Arts program who are enrolled in, have taken, or intend to take an honours course in economics, philosophy, or psychology may apply for the Hannon Scholarships (Theology). Applicants must submit a statement of intent to study theology at a bible college or seminary after graduation, plus a statement on university and community involvement and character. Awards are $3,000; the number offered varies. Selection considers academic achievement, involvement, and character. Apply through the PAWS Scholarships and Bursaries Channel by October 15. The scholarships were established by the late Judge J.W. Hannon in memory of his father, the Rev. James Hannon, D.D.

University of Guelph undergraduate students registered in Geography, Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology & Anthropology with demonstrated financial need may apply. Preference is given to female students admitted with mature-applicant status. One award of $1,750 is available. Apply by October 7 to Student Financial Services with a completed Financial Need Assessment Form and the Joan Weatherly Memorial Bursary application if you were admitted as a mature female student.

York University Keele Campus students majoring or minoring in Creative Writing, Dance, Education, English, Film (Photography), History, Humanities, Kinesiology and Health Science, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Theatre, or Visual Arts. The scholarship is $1,280. Applicants must have completed at least 54 credits, hold a 7.00 (B+) average, and demonstrate financial need. Professor Elaine Newton and her husband Alan Wilder established the scholarship in appreciation of the education their six children received at York.

Open to a UPEI graduate who has been accepted as a candidate for graduate studies in psychology and can provide evidence of acceptance from the university where they will study. One award of $1,000 is given. Applicants must submit proof of graduate admission in psychology.

University of Windsor Psychology students with demonstrated financial need who meet OSOTF II citizenship and Ontario residency requirements. Three need-based bursaries of $1,000 each from the OSOTF II Psychology fund. Apply online through the UWinAward Profile.

Doctoral students in experimental or clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa who are registered in years 2 through 6 (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, persons with protected or refugee status, or international students), are in good academic standing, and have demonstrated excellence in research may apply. Preference goes to applicants with the greatest financial need. The award is $1,000. Apply through Online Scholarships and Bursaries in uoZone with the Financial Questionnaire, an OSB CV, and at least two reference letters (one from your supervisor) by March 31. The scholarship memorializes Pierre Baron.

University of New Brunswick Fredericton honours Psychology students who are first authors of a paper or poster accepted at a peer-refereed psychological conference may receive Snodgrass Student Travel Awards. One or more $500 awards per year to support travel to a national or international conference; students may receive only one travel award per academic year. Apply to the Psychology Department Chair before attending, with the abstract and written confirmation of acceptance. Application deadlines are May 1 and October 1. Supported by the Snodgrass Fund commemorating Dr. Florence Snodgrass (BA 1924).

Western University graduating Psychology students are eligible for this annual departmental award for the most outstanding Senior Honours Thesis. One award of $500 is given. Nomination by the thesis supervisor, second reader, or honours thesis course coordinator is required; a departmental committee selects the winner.

University of Victoria graduate students in the Faculty of Science, neuro-psychology in the Department of Psychology, or the School of Social Work may be considered for this bursary. Applicants must meet general SAFA bursary rules: Canadian citizen or permanent resident, maximum full-time government student loans and grants for the study period, full-time graduate registration, and (for continuing students) a minimum 2.0 GPA in the previous academic session. One or more bursaries; the amount varies. One application per session covers all SAFA bursaries. Deadlines are June 1 for Summer and October 15 for Winter.
