Yukon Scholarships

Full-time undergraduate students at the University of Ottawa who work as student mentors in a faculty, are not Ontario residents (as per OSAP rules), demonstrate financial need, and show strong academic, leadership, and coaching skills may apply. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, persons with protected or refugee status, and international students. Awards are $4,500 or more, up to the cost of tuition for one full academic year. Apply via uoZone by November 3 with the Financial Questionnaire, transcript, CV, a 500-word letter on your mentor experience, and a reference letter.

Canadian citizens or permanent residents registered full-time in second-year studies at Yukon University with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the last academic year may apply. Applicants must not have received this scholarship in the prior five years. The Board of Governors offers a $700 award. Submit the Student Financial Award Application plus a 100-word paragraph on how your program aligns with your career goals. The applicant with the highest GPA receives the award. As representatives of the university and community, the Board sets Yukon University's vision, mission, and strategic plan.

Yukon University students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, have lived in Yukon at least two years, completed the previous semester, and are registered full-time in University Access Pathways may receive this $500 award. Submit the Student Financial Award Application by the posted deadline, including how long you have lived in Yukon. The award was established in 1995 by the former Developmental Studies Division of Yukon College at Hazel Fekete's retirement, recognizing her work with academic upgrading students and the courage of those returning to the classroom.

Full-time first- or second-year students in Yukon University's Culinary Arts program who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible. Recipients demonstrate quality, leadership, and vision in food service (especially food safety) and plan a career in the food service industry. One award of $500. No student application. The Culinary Arts and Food Services Department Head and Culinary Arts instructor submit nominations.

Canadian citizens or permanent residents registered full-time in Yukon University's Renewable Resources Management program may apply for this $500 award. Submit the Student Financial Award Application Form and a one-page essay on your values related to the Yukon wilderness. The deadline is September 30, 2026. Yukon Outfitters Association created the award to commemorate long-time Yukon outfitter Pete Jensen.

Yukon University full-time pre-apprentice trades students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, have been Yukon residents for at least two years, and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to applicants with at least one year at a Yukon high school; if no eligible pre-apprentice applicants, other pre-employment students may be considered. Two awards of $500 (combined into $1,000 if only one applicant qualifies). Submit the Student Financial Award Application Form by September 30, noting Yukon residency length and any Yukon high school attendance.

Full-time first-year Yukon University Bachelor of Social Work students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents may receive this bursary. Two awards of $500 each are available. Submit the Student Financial Award Application Form plus a typed letter outlining reasons for pursuing social work and current financial circumstances, including secured funding. Deadline is September 30. Made possible by a donation from the Rotary Club of Whitehorse.

Recent Yukon high school graduates (within five years) accepted to a post-secondary trades, diploma, or degree program may receive this Yukon Association of Education Professionals bursary. Two $500 awards are paid to the registrar of the recipient's institution. A single YAEP application covers all YAEP scholarships and bursaries; apply via yaep.ca by August 31. Established to commemorate YAEP's 50th anniversary.

For students from northeastern Alberta, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, or Nunavut who have been accepted into a program related to the energy sector and demonstrate financial need. Preference goes to Indigenous students who speak their cultural language and intend to return to work in the North. The award amount varies. Students must complete the application to be considered.
