Liberal Arts Scholarships in Canada

For undergraduate students in York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons, are Ontario residents, and demonstrate financial need. Bursary amounts vary. Apply through York FAAS. The York University Faculty Association Foundation and Trust established these bursaries to help students facing financial difficulty while completing undergraduate studies.

Students admitted to York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies with a minimum 85% admission average. Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons who are Ontario residents and demonstrate financial need. $1,700; renewable up to three times for students in at least 18 credits in an Honours LA&PS program who continue to demonstrate need. Open to international students entering the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies at York University with top academic standing of 90% or higher. Eligible candidates receive an entrance scholarship. Award value is tiered by GPA at admission. No separate application is required for eligible entrance candidates. Awards are granted automatically based on academic standing at admission.

Full-time Concordia University students enrolled in the Western Society and Culture discipline of the Liberal Arts College, in their second year of studies or higher. This non-renewable in-course scholarship is funded through an endowment originally established by the Concordia University Provost in 1986. College scholarship amounts vary by year. Students entering a full-time Master of Arts program with a minimum A admission average. Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons who are Ontario residents and demonstrate financial need. Up to $20,000. Apply via FAAS.

York University students entering Year 2 of a liberal arts BA in Fine Arts, Glendon, or Liberal Arts and Professional Studies may receive the Chancellor Bennett Undergraduate Scholarship for Liberal Arts. Applicants need a minimum 8.00 GPA, Ontario residency, Canadian citizenship, permanent resident, or protected person status, and demonstrated financial need. Value varies. The award is renewable in years 3 and 4 with a minimum cumulative GPA of 7.80. Check York LAPS student awards for the current application process.

Third- or fourth-year undergraduate students in the Student Directed Seminars program at UBC Okanagan's Irving K. Barber Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences who have completed their role as a Student Coordinator may be considered. Two awards of $750 each are available. Recipients are selected on the recommendation of the Student Directed Seminars Advisory Committee. There is no separate student application.

York University Honours undergraduate political science students entering Year 4 may be automatically considered. The recipient is judged to have the highest academic achievement and a demonstrated special interest in the field of politics. One award of $400 is granted. No application is required. Established in memory of Ashe Davis, who was active in the development of policy for the Liberal Party of Canada.

Continuing international undergraduate students in the Irving K. Barber Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at UBC Okanagan may receive awards of up to $10,000 each. Recipients must have completed 30 credits or be entering second year and must show strong academic achievement, faculty engagement, and scholarly potential. The scholarships are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. There is no separate application.

For an outstanding returning undergraduate student at UBC Okanagan with second-year standing or higher who is majoring in Visual Arts. A $1,000 scholarship offered by the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies. Made on the recommendation of the Faculty.
